Where is the fuel pump located on the type 4 case? Also, is the fuel pump exclusive to type 4's, or can late model type 1 fuel pumps be swapped in?

Oops, my mistake, I should have said the Mechanical fuel pump. I would just like to check a couple cases out up here and would like to know if it is set up for the mechanical pump or not...I am assuming the fuel injected cases do not have a place for the mechanical pump?

All T-4 cases are interchangeable With that being said some Porsche cases and Bus cases are F.I.. The fuel pump is located at the Flywheel end of the block. Yes the fuel pumps is a T-2/4 part only. If you get a case that is not carbed use a small electric pump. Here is a good link. www.tunacan.net/t4/

Dave, I'm loving that site as of late _ Are there places that still sell replacement mechanical pumps for Type IV engines? If there is no provision for a mechanical pump (can you tell I like mechanical pumps?), are the Carter style rotary pumps a good option? I ask because I have heard a lot of negative things about the Facet pumps and would like to stay away from them... _

Another question. Is there a difference between the castings of the aluminum fan shroud on the regular type 4 engines and the Vanagon engines?
