I don't have a title for my Parts Bus and I was wondering how hard is it to get one. Since this is the off season I am in no rush. Do I just drive to the Secretary of State and ask for a title or is their something else I need to do?
Has anyone else had to deal with this? Is it a pain?

It depends on where it was last registried, you may have to do a search/ through/ in Minn., before going the Mich. DMV. Did you get abill of sale? If not can you get one? You may want to try now as it could take a while. Later Kenn

There are title agencies that will do all the leg work for you, I've never used one and think they might be a little expensive. Its worth giving one of them a call. Heres a link to a local company. www.mi-autotitle.com/jerry

It was last registered in Minn with plates that expired in 2008. Can I do a plate search I still have the old one? I have no idea why the owner did not have the title because of the recent tags. I did get a bill of sale because Steven reminded me. I can still contact the owner if needed. I don't think it was stolen just look at it.

Otherwise wander in to the S.O.S and ask them,I have done that a few times and depending on who you get you might not need all that much.
Just bring money with you in case things go well there.

Ally Mcbeetle came from Goergia and did not ever have a title. I did get a bill of sale and thankfully a copy of the last registration. Took two seperate visits as they needed a day to do a background check on the vin to make sure it was not stolen. So anyway it all went through ok. I was nail biting through the process and was at times wondering if it was a good Idea. ANyway all went ok. And did not cost anymore.
Go for it.

Well thanks for the info I guess I will just walk in one day and just start asking questions. I am glad that you responded Dan because you have done it before. I just don't have a copy of the last registration.
Lets see what happens I will keep you posted.

I had to do a vin correction on my title. Not the same issue but.... I got a form from sec. of state website for the vin correction/verification. Maybe doing that would speed up your process. I filled out the form then called the local police. They came out and documented the vin then ran the vin to make sure all was OK with the car. Quick easy process. Now I just need to get it sent in.
