Snowing in Battle Creek. Unbelievable!
Track says they are still going to run today. Weather is supposed to break soon. I am going to give it a try. Anxious to test my few changes. Plan to be there at noonish.

Well shoot. Sorry about that Kenn. I made one pass. Leaky valve cover gasket made it a short day for me. I figured no one there by 4 so nobody was coming. So I loaded up and went to the car wash then home to fix the car.
I must have just missed you too. I left right around 4.

Next time? / Bren, funny thing is that I had a package of 10 valve cover gaskets in the PT, I hadn't taken out from last weekend. Did get to visit with a friend that lives near the track, wasn't a total bust. I even got my $10. back

Bren,Tip for leaky VC's Old stock covers with the tab in the middle of the top sealing surface, that helps with 3/4 side from sucking in I clean with brake cleaner or your fav degrease ,then spray with 'Hi-tack (red sticky stuff) let it get tacky,, install ,let sit overnight, usually works ;D ;D ;D

On the head side of the gasket I don't use the hi-tack so the cover comes off nice and clean and have even re-used the same gasket after a quick check of the rockers before,What is the rite stuff? silicone? I won't use it!!! seen too many motors with that crap, stuck in the screens, plugging coolers and such ,I do use the High temp copper stuff on exhast flanges but that's it,as for Push Rod tubes leaking? I've never had a problem with good Old STOCK tubes!!! but resently I got a set of uber cool JC's spring loaded but the guy gave me the wrong o-rings and they leaked,if I didn't need the clearance I would of used stock Madmike

This is what happened to mine. Sucked in at the bottom. Not sure why. Any ideas?

Cuz u got a superduper high revin VW Motor ;D ;D silicone let it slip!! I've dimpled/scored the sealing surface a little bit so the gasket has something to grip to,or weld some tabs to them, but the above method(High-tack) works 99% of the time

Was not silicone. What you see is water from washing the car at the 1/4 car wash on the way home. I did use a sealant. Don't recall what it was called though. High temp red stuff that you brush on and let tack up.

I saw some valve covers that had a small lip brazed on both the bottom and top inside the valve cover.
It was being run by a guy who hated using any sort of sealer.
They looked cool, and when you used gaskets with tabs, they were supposed to keep things in place.
I talked to him about about brazed breather tubes for the Pig of Plastic, but he wanted way to much money. I just got mine from Berg.
