Alright I figured maybe this deserved its own thread. I had posted some pics of a '64 bug I spoted not long ago on our forum. Here they are The property has a house that is not ocupied, so I drove by again today and snooped a little more. It is a very nice car, some rust, not sure exactly how much, but og interior that is faded, and most everything looks to be there. Overall a very nice car from what I could tell. Stopped by the neighbors house. He said the owner lives in Misserrry. And probably 12 people have stopped and asked him about the cars there, also a orange on there, and he has talked to the owner and he said that the cars will rot before he sells them. They have been sitting there for some time obviously, and Im sure he has no intentions of restoration. This just p***es me off to no end. Why do people feel like they need to be like this? I would have felt better if he said he wants $20,000 for it. I doubt its just me. Ughhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That stuff really bothers me as well. I know where theres a 66 Bug sitting in fact I see it on my way to work every day and the owner won't come off of it. It sits behind a building he owns and is in pretty bad shape but he wont sell. Whats the age of the guy who owns that 64? Might have to play the waiting game.

Some people are really....interesting about how they relate to their cars. In 1981, I sold my 1979 Z28 to a guy who was about my age (I was 20). I loved that car, but I was away at school and obsessed about the car to the point I had to sell it. It had about 21,000 miles on it. Flash forward to 2006. I ran into an old friend who knew the buyer of my car. I found out he still had it and lives in Fowlerville (about 50 miles from me). I called his house and talked to his wife. I got all kinds of grief for calling (all I wanted to do was come see the car). She would not let me talk to her husband (she thought I was going to try to buy the car back). She did tell me that the car only had 24,000 miles on it, but had been in their barn for the last 15 years. They were saving it for their son. I still have the original build sheet and offered to give it to him--if I could come see the car. No dice. Maybe she thought I was a major stalker, but as vintagevwnut experienced, some people are nuts.

At least the Camaro has a chance and sounds like its somewhat well cared for. That Beetle is just out in the elements and the owner said it will sit and rot.

I know it just a car, but its got me in a realy bad mood, more the persons attitude than the car, I wouldnt even care so much if it was inside though.

Very true, but illustrates the different viewpoints on vehicle ownership. I do understand vintage's feelings on this one. A big "ugh" to the owner of those cars.

If you spotted that car from the first picture, you really do have an eagle eye.
Theres a red 67' up here by me. Its been sitting on this guys farm in the same spot for at least five years, I mean the same spot. Its farmers sons car and he "plans on restoring it". The last time I stopped I got the owners phone number. I gave him a call, told him my thoughts about the car, he told me he would think it over and find out what its worth and let me know. That was eight months ago, I called him a few months ago but he didn't answer or return my calls. I drove by the car tonight, kinda hoping it was gone and not rotting away, sure enough it was still sitting there now with a huge tractor tire leaning up against it. At least its being well taken care of. In another month or so I'll go talk to the old man again, last time I talked to him he said he wanted it gone. If no luck I'll be back next spring, I'm not giving up until its gone or I own it. I realize alot of guys have big dreams of restoring a car to its former glory, but at some point they need to give up on it before its too late. I just don't understand, its very frustrating.

But the '64 went unnoticed by me for a few months till I saw a deck lid. I tuned around and pulled to the side of the road and saw some chrome that looked like a over rider shinning and focused in with the camrera to take that pic. I know what you mean about that '67. Im just frustrated today, I did talk to my boss and he knows the owners name, he used to be a contractor and did my boss's roof. I may try finding him, but to frustrated right now. I dont want to hear what I figure Im gonna hear anyways.

Oh, Another 67 eh Jerry. That would be sweet I hope you get through to the owners and they decide to sell before the car rots to the ground.

It sure would look nice sitting next to my blue one. If I could work it out I go the same route Bren did and make road worthy. I'd slam it though, lower than my blue car, or make an autocross car. I've been thinking alot about one of those lately. I'm not giving up, I can be very persistant when I find something I can't live without. Then look out Bren and I will start the 67' only club and theres only one way in that. You gotta roll two deep.J/K

There is an emotional attachment to alot of these cars, and I have also found that it drives some people crazy thinking your going to make money off of them even if that is not the intention.

I think I've seen the '67 Jerry's talking about but never stopped. This X2 thing may become a trend. Do you have to do it with 67's to qualify? Do I have to round out my singles?
