Ghia's going into storage as soon as I get some dry roads. Wish I had room to store by me so I could tinker on it this winter. Oh well.

Mike, I filled-up, washed and waxed Ruffuss this morning and backed him into the barn, maybe not for the winter but if it doesn't get warmer then he is all set to get covered and put to bed for the duration. Later Kenn PS I'm really not ready to put him up I had such a blast this summer I don't want it end. KRD

Stored my yellow Super last Thursday. I put Sta-bil in the fuel and topped the tank off. I ususally drain the carb, but this is a bunch easier plus the engine can be turned by hand without worrying about refilling the carb. I put the car on "storage" tires and let the air out of the regular ones and stack them on a piece of clear plastic. The oil was changed about 25 miles prior to storage. What do some of you other guys do to prepare for storage?

When it's finally that time I'll top off the tank, Change the oil, jack up all four corners, dicconnect the battery, put dryer sheets in the engine bay& interior(helps keep rodents out), make sure everything is out of the car(no paper, bottles, clothes etc.) and cover it twice one dust proof, one waterproof. I then feed the rodents with D-con under and around the cars. I once had mice chew through the wiring harness while a car was stored for the winter. Couldn't figure why it did want to start or even turn over, maybe thats why I get anial about mice and critters living where my cars are stored. I then try to start each vehicle once a month and let them run about 5 mins. Thats what I do how about you? Later Kenn

I never really store my Ghia. I try to kick myself out to the garage and do some work to it. This winter I plan on removing the engine and possibility the Trans. To do some clean up work. I may adjust my inner door working. I will also disassemble my rear suspension paint it and replace all the bushings. If I get really bored I may fix my horn and install my remote trunk release.
That my plan now lets see how much I do. AJ

I keep my car at my Grandparent's garage, but if there's a nice day in the winter I'll drive the car around just a bit, usually to the state park and back. I try to drive the car reguardless of weather every month at least once. This from around X-mas/ New Years last year.

I'm wondering how many people will bring there VWs to the Nov. GTC, depending on the weather of course?

Both mine and "Splash" are in the garage and no longer legal to drive. The season has ended and it bums me out. We usually park the cars in the house garage just like all summer and periodically start them. I usually tinker with mine and so does my dad so they do not receive any particular storage treatments.

I do the stabil thing then run the car for 30 min to get the stuff into the carbs then I throw the large fancy car cover over it that I bought for the trans am originally then I start it once a month and run for 30 min each time. If needed I'll hook up the 1 amp motorcycle charger or unhook the battery. When people talk about this stuff I have visions of a which doctor who comes around and does a whole dance and show on your car to ward off bad winter spirits!!! . I am blessed with a mongo sized garage that is attatched to the house so the bug is pretty snug in the winter and I will be sure to give it a little pat periodically. I have a garage heater that is only used when I absolutely need to fix something, and have even done rebuilds in the winter but really I like to work on RC planes in the winter not greasy cold yucky cars !! That's a warm activity The planes just give off saw dust and are in the nice warmish basement. Dan

I also run Stabil through the fuel system, and leave the Battery Tender on the whole winter. I'm not a fan of running the car during storage--either drive it or don't.

My car will be at the Nov. gtg, unless theres a ton of snow. I drive mine through the winter, at least when the roads are clear. When it starts getting some snow and ice build up I take it to the shop where I work and give it a thorough rinse.
