Bren:
Congratulations with the times!
The car looks fantastic, and it looks FAST!
When does Rudy's safety committee get to evaluate the car?
I'm wondering if they will have to add large lead "reinforcements". These are for your "safety" you know...kind of like "roll cage and chassis improvements"...
;D

Installed a CB performance magnaspark billet distributor. Also installed the MSD plug wires. Wired and installed VDO gauges. Oil temp, Oil pressure, Cylinder Head Temp. Used the oil temp sending unit that goes in the front oil pressure relief port. Was unsure about having it down there but it is actually in a nicely protected location. I now feel like this car is 'done'. I know they are never done but I feel it is built now. Now I am in the tinkering and tuning stage. Hope to stay there for quite a while; if you know what I mean.

Good looking install on the gauges. It will be interesting to see what kind of readings you get. Can you arrange some HOT weather to test them?

Yea Bren, very clean install FYI;it takes a Looooog drive to warm up the oil,and 180-200 is about the norm, coming back from the U.P. on I-75 @ 70-80+mph it gets up to 210,Yesterday in parade 220 stopped to get a Cold drink and it dropped to 190-200 for the trip home and I'm running a Center mount shroud and a small cooler from an old shelby Gt made by Borg Warner that's hanging in front of the Trans

And let the tinkering and tuning begin.... Every pass was getting slower tonight. Last pass 17seconds. Put it on the trailer to diagnose. Turns out the billet distributor clamp failed where it bolted to the case. On the trailer it stayed!

Sorted out the dist. clamp. It had a funny bolt set up that failed. I replaced it with a long stud and a spacer. This is the kind I have: Next time I will get the one from CB. Looks like a better design. Oil temp. gauge quit while at the track too. The crimp on connector was not getting a good bite on the sending unit. Seems to be working fine now.

Hey Everybody: Bren mentioned a failure of a crimp-type connector. This is usually caused by the tool. Here is the solution, but I'm not certain if you can get it any longer without finding one on eBay, or something like that. I use a Vaco 1900 crimping tool, which is a tool that puts a different crimp on terminal than most tools. It actually puts a mechanical crimp in the terminal, rather than just crushing it, like most tools. This gives you a mechanical crimp that is much more secure than anything I have ever found. Here is a photo of one. Vaco was purchased by Klein, and they may have discontinued this tool, but I have seen it listed as the Klein 1900, where it was the Vaco 1900. They usually cost around $25, which seems expensive, but it you use solderless terminals, it's well worth the money. I have never had one fail when I use this tool, and I have used it a lot!
