Now it's lookin like a Race Car ;D Your gonna need a bigger breather install longer studs and mount the filter on Out side of exhast/headstuds,I would run/race without apron, check to see how hot apron gets with coated header u may be OK?

Mike's right; you'd be surprised how cool the exhaust will be with the ceramic coating. Let me know if you'd like to borrow an temp gun.
Oil filter bracket - maybe mount it where the bumper bracket went. Draw something up and email it to me. I'll fab it up... or maybe test out the trailer/car and bring it out on the 22nd!

I have got an IR temp gun as well...it even has a laser pointer to show you what you are testing. AJ used it a couple of years ago.
It's very cool to use when you are setting up an engine. You can tell the temp of each cylinder pipe and can easily see if something is not up to snuff. I used to use it with my Honda CBX which carb was not working well. The pipe at the head was 20 or 30 degrees off from the other pipes. You could tell something was amiss, but not know where.
Works the same on a VW.
If you want to play, let me know.

Got the studs out. Bought a bracket and longer studs. Will go in tonight. I bought a harbor freight laser thermometer a while back for use at the track. Hopefully tomorrow I will break in the cam / lifters and take it for a ride!

Hey Bren,
I've seen the oil filter mounted to the fender well outside of the engine bay area under the fender nice and out of the way

First test drive after the cam break in. Had not adjusted the timing so it was bogging pretty bad. But, it was moving under it's own power! (click on image for video) Loaded up and heading to the track. Marie said, 'well, at least it will look good going down the highway on the trailer'. First pass on the track. The good: No oil leaks. Went straight. Went through all the gears. And, we were at the track in April with beautiful weather! The bad: It basically had no power. Feel we have isolated it to the battery. Know it was weak so that is the place to start. Hopefully that is it. Hope to find out tomorrow.
