Hello GoodVolks, I recently picked up a 1972 Karmann Ghia and was happy to run across this site today while looking for parts. Here's a link to a few pics: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=76641&id=1635168909&l=ceadad43c4It's been a long time since working on an air cooled. We had a 1969 Squareback when I was a kid. Later I had a Rabbit so this is my third VW. So far I've put new calipers and brake pads on the Ghia. I've also bought new ball joints as the old ones are shot. Doesn't look like a fun job. Also need to replace the boots on the intake manifold. The Weber carb electric choke connector is rubbing on the fan housing so I plan on putting on another Weber I have that has the connector facing the back. That carb will need to be raised about a half an inch with a spacer so the accelerator pump clears the generator studs. The interior is original. Seat belt buckles are gone, and one belt is stuck so you can't pull it out, but other than that the interior is in amazing shape for its age. Oh, and it looks like the mice have worked on the glove compartment. Looking forward to learning about VW's and Karmann Ghias, and where to get parts locally.

Thanks for the welcome. Forgot my Dad also had a '65 vw bus back in the day. He bought it with a blown engine and we put in a newer one. If I remember correctly it had a 6 volt system and we upgraded to 12 volts when we changed the engine. My first engine swap.

The Weber carb electric choke connector is rubbing on the fan housing so I plan on putting on another Weber I have that has the connector facing the back. . Welcome to the club. My wife has a '67 Ghia; freshly painted last summer. I have a Weber carb on my '73 Super Beetle. Before I installed it, I glued a 1"x1" piece of rubber (thin gasket material)on the fan housing near where the Weber electric choke was because I did not want it to arc/spark. It's a close fit, but it does not touch. Anyway, I hope to see you and your car at some shows/get togethers this summer.
