Bug Run Promotion idea

Our GoodVolks drag day event is a competition for the best reaction time.
I was thinking it might be cool to take that idea and apply it to the bug runs.
My thought, we as a club raise $100 (or other amount to be determined). We sponsor a competition amongst the racers at the bug run for the best reaction time of the day. Only the actual race passes would count, not fun runs, not dial in passes. Racer with best reaction time would be awarded the $100 at the end of the racing.

What do you all think? Could we do this? Is this a good idea?
Would you be willing to contribute towards raising the funds for this?

I figure I'm " saving" $8 at least because of the "free" swap spot that US131 offers us.

This is a great idea and I will gladly contribute to the cause and still feel like its a deal. If we raise over $100, we could increase the amount offered, or put the excess in the club's general fund

What about calling it "The GoodVolks Challenge"? or other name? If so, we would probably have to figure on funding it it long term.

Or if we found a sponsor for this, the GoodVolks part name could change to reflect the new sponsor. Personally, I'd like to see us keep on funding this to keep our name associated with the racing part of the event.

I also agree, one thought though if we raise a $100. for the purse and raise any more do a 50/50 between purse and the remander to our charity?? I like the challenge idea also. I'll help locating Sponsor also.

I like this idea a lot and I don't think we should have any trouble raising $100.

When does the money need to be in by? So if we have like 10 or more poeple they could give $ 10 each? Or more if they want. If we have over 300 people in the club this should be simple.

Its a little hard to show & drag at the same time or is this only for the big boys? The chance of some cash from a pop of a clutch sound like fun .

Hey Glen,

Last year I ran the fun runs and had a swap spot. Shouldn't be a problem making some fun runs.

Show cars might even get some positive attention from the show judges is they made a few passes!!!!

Glen, for this promotion I am thinking only for those actually racing. NOT those doing the test and tune. I want to try to tie us into the racing portion of the event a little more.

The bug run has done well growing the show and swap part of the event. The racing has not really grown yet. I feel we need to do what we can as a club to help grow the racing portion of the show.

So, with that said, is this a done deal? Can I start promoting the $100 payout for best reaction time of the day for the racers?

I say give any extra to the racers. If we raise over $100, maybe have a "best 60ft time", or, low et, or highest trap speed, or...? for the extra.
Nothing against charity, or, putting some in the kitty, but, if we are trying to grow the racing portion...well...money talks!

I have a feeling $100 will be easy to come up with...
