Typ3nut, I think we have come to the same conclusion, only I am too cheap, and don't care enough to get a custom plate for the rear, I think I am just going to get the pretty little orange sticker for my existing plate. If I get motivated, I will stick the 1970 plate on top of the daily driver plate with a magnet. I will just put it on there if I am at a show or something. Close enough. I don't want to have to worry about it. Great discussion though, Happy Camper

I have a T-Bucket which is titled as a 1966 Ford Cortina. I have never been stopped and I am always driving it to the parts store. It's a Ford but that excuse may be weak for a reliable V-Dub.
I also have a Dragster that is titled as a 1972 Honda CB350. I have not taken a chance on driving it on the street .
Notice both have plates

Dave--I think the antique/authentic license plates will reduce your premiums with Hagerty. When I applied for my insurance policy with them, I am pretty sure that they will reduce your premium by $125/yr if you use those plates (at the time, I was using a regular plate). I just registered a 1970 plate (for my '70 Beetle) with the state, so am going to explore this further with them.

I drive my Puma too much to even bother to explore that, and I am not willing to risk fraud if there was an accident. My insurance only runs $290 for the entire year, and it is plated for all of it.

Makes sense. I don't drive mine that often, plus I found a nice 1970 plate at a car show a couple of weeks ago.

Yes you do get a break in price and every car you add on is like $50 a year more for each one. Hagerty's idea is that you cant drive them all at the same time. But,They do not like to insure buses if they were designed for camping.
