REF. Courtesy of www.legislature.mi.gov , Window tint may be used on the windshield and side windows 4 inches down from the top , And no more than 35% total reflectance on windows side and rear , Behind drivers doors an back . Pull a search for yourselves there is a lot more , Read up before being pulled over .

laws are pretty strict on tint, although it just depends on the cop sometimes. I have limo on the back, and 35% on the front of my daily, and I have never been pulled over. But its one of those things you just have to risk sometimes

What is a good cheap source for legal tint for the back 3 windows? I am not afraid of trying to do it myself either.

I did the back three windows and four inches down on the side windows on an extended cab ranger I use to have. It turned out pretty nice, no bubbles or wrinkles and it lasted a long time. Prepping the windows is the most important thing, the must be clean, windex and razor blade clean. I bought the tint off the shelf at the local pep boys, buy the more expensive stuff, the film is a little thicker. The rear curved window could be tricky.

I paid to have mine on the honda done, 5 windows for $140. If you do it yourself its very cheap, and not that hard. If you want some help bren, I have laid down some vinyl decals before tons of time.

Did anyone see the bright green 70 ish beetle for sale in the swap meet area at the bug run? The guy just shot his back windows with black rattle can paint. It wouldn't get much darker or cheaper than that.

Hmm. I did not even think about paint.... Actually, I did not think you could find window tint that easy. I will check out autozone. Would you put it on before or after installing the glass in the car?

If I were you, I would put it on before installing the windows, unless perhaps you are a pro.

Remember to cut the tint back away from the glass edge about 1/8" or the tint will lift when the glass is installed. Also allow plenty of dry time before installation.

I would agree with chris, do it before you put the windows in, and save yourself some aggrevation.

My son and I did the bus when the glass was out , All flat glass . A dust free area with no fans running , no pet hair things like that you have to think about . There is an application kit and in this kit you will a disk for training .Let me know about when your thinking of doing this , My son and I could over an help with 1 or 2 pieces showing some tricks that we learned . And you can go form there .

The rear window curves two directions. Does this film stretch at all to accomodate that? Maybe I am better off taking them into someone to be done.

Stretching is not how this works , laying the film with a liquid mixture between and squeegeeing out the extra after its on location . But yes for a flawless job talk to the pros. . My son and I had done some window more than once trying to hit that 100% flawless its hard to do we got almost but not 100%
