This is the 1967 beetle i picked up, my goal is to make it look and run as a decent daily driver, not a restoration about a week ago.. Then i tore it down to this as of today.. and my first question.. how are these rear bumper brackets attached? i didnt see any spot welds but i could be wrong..

I agreee the original color looked great. What was the color originally or more importantly what color do you like?? Darker colors show imperfections though hence why I gravitate torwards light colors. If I ever go expensive on mine (not likely anytime soon) Im going to go white pearl whith herbie ghost flames I really like my yellow for right now though.

in the beginning i was gravitating to the original 2 tone, but nothing else on this car is original, it has the wrong fenders, hood, engine, dash was cut, plus i dont even know if the two tone was orginal, the white was rolled on with a roller. Ive been really looking into a flat white or a flat baby blue, dont see it much and it wont show that i suck at painting.

The Samba website has all the original colors listed and a few brochures to show the two-tone combinations available. Do a little research there.
PM me and I will send you a link if you've never been there.

I dont think two tones were ever original except maybe on a hebmueller but they do look good. My car was all hacked up as well which is a large part of why I bought it. Id hate to modify a perfectly good stocker. this way I feel ok.

I've seen two-tones advertised in official Ghia brochures but the '67 beetle brochure on the Samba shows no two-tones, so dansam may be right. Anybody know for sure?
