My grandfather was a bump and paint man in Gladwin Michigan. For years he worked at the VW dealership until he opened his own shop. Over the years he would rebuilt cars including several beetles. I don't know years, vins etc.. but every one he rebuilt was red exterior with a white exterior roof. He believed it kept the car cooler in the sun and did it to most of his rebuilds including all his beetles. Have you seen such a creature or maybe even owned one? There could be as many as 6-8 of these beetles all sold in Gladwin, Mi. Hoping beyond hope to catch one of these bugs and maybe reaquire it for the family. His name was Norm Davis and his shop was on M-18 between Gladwin and Beaverton. PM with any information. Thanks Paul
