I really like the BC Buggy. Did you know that George's Father-In-Law was involved with the BC Buggy? You should ask him about it sometime. I am not experienced in fiberglass but if it were mine and I was going to repaint I would do the following. Lay in some fiberglass sheets on the underside to create a base. Bottom side of the hood won't be seen anyways. Then fill above with either loose fiberglass fibers and resin or body filler. Then sand it out and paint it.

anybody got a tip on filling the hole in the hood that was hacked there for the fuel fill? im gonna move it to the corner by the windield Bren hit the nail on the head. Glass from underneath, wait a day, fill with some long strand body filler (we call it kitty hair), just below level, sand, finish with regular filler, sand, prime, paint, clear, wetsand, buff, smile!

patch from the bottom and fill, cool,
i was going to sandwitch a filler material in between two patches thin plywood or cardboard for the big hole but you guys think i can patch the bottom and fill?
im gonna be mixing up some filler anyway because theres lotsa boltholes to be filled where stuff has been added and taken off over the years
checking around the dba registry i cant find anyone thats seen that hood before? whos george, and maybe he can shed some light on the subject

funny...i picked this buggy up in battle creek, he probly knows the guy that shafted me on the deal. he sent me a vid of it running "last year" and i took his word for it, when i tried to start it i got fire from between the cyl heads and jugs, both sides the studs had came loose and on one side i could see into the cylinder. it had been sitting long enough that the carb cross shaft was siezed solid and wouldnt move
but..i see it as karma i still have less than $800 into my sandshark on a craigslist deal with a willing participant
i have almost double that into this bc so it all evens out in the wash, once i get it painted and running i have it resold, half goes to the wife and the rest goes to another procect for me to fix up, im thinkin a bradly or some type of kit car next

Bone:
Be careful when you fill the holes up, and when you glass over the old tank hole. Patrick has the right information...fill it up just below level and let it harden thoroughly before using regular filler. Dress that promptly. If you use the heavy duty stuff for the final work, or let it harden too long, you will never get it flat and smooth without hours of work. With older gel coat, it's usually softer than the filler, and you end up with the body low, and the filler high.
Don't ask me how I know, but just believe it. It's a long, tawdry story involving lots of cursing, wavy fiberglass, and an expensive trip to someone who knows how to put things like that right...

hood patched from the bottom then filled with tiger hair, more sanding to do yet but i think its gonna be ok. this is my first time doin body work, my buddy did the other buggys this one isnt for show its for function and i know people cringe at cutting on bodies but i like easy access and we work on them in the trails, usually a couple times a weekend you gotta clean the air filters in the dusty trails we run in. on this one i couldnt get at the airfilter without dislocating my elbow and standing on my head so i made a modification before after
