I finally got the chance to get out to Holland today and see this 66 crew cab that I have heard people talking about. The guy was cool, the ride is solid but need alot of work. To get to the point, after neg. for a bit with the guy, I ended up buying it. It has been one of those vw's that has been in my blood since I got into them. So after the work is done, my plans are: 17" fuchs, safari windows, paint, wood slats in the bed and do I have to even say it? Ok, I will, slammed. Pretty pumped about this one. Any info or advice would be awesome seeing that I have never done work on a bus.

So, do you still have the car? Of course, we need photos of the crew cab!

Glad someone finally picked that ride up. I looked at it a couple times, but was just to much for me to tackle at this time. It has great potential, I can't wait to see what you do with it. congrats!

DC's are awesome. Saw many awesome DC's and Singles @ Winterjam in Daytona. My only advice...don't be sticker shocked when you start buying stuff...dem things can cost a lot more than a Type I to rebuild....

Good luck with it George! I drove by that DC more times than I can count (I even took my shoes off!) It is definitely a project, but, what VW in MI isn't? Let me know if you need any help, my skills are limited to, welding, bodywork, paint, suspension, brakes, and engine building, I don't do transmissions...yet!

ok. update. I talked to the po of the dbl cab and he said he was going to move it to the back of his property till I pick it up. After looking at the underbody of the bus I asked if he thought it was solid enough to move and he told me that he had it on the road just last year. He and his roommate pull started it and had it driving around for about 2 hours. I also found out that the 1600 dual port that is in it is a good running motor. I love the little suprises you find out. Looks like all I need now is some structure parts, swing axle tranny, 2" narrowed front beam, and a pass. front window. Let me know if you have any of this.
