No updates...Engine / trans in progress, but no rush...
********** Looking at the possibilitiy of having most or all of the final assembly of my project completed by somebody other than myself
Rick @ 4R Kustoms did a superb job on the body....wiring, engine trans install, interior, etc. not quite his game...
Must be within 1 hr. of Oakland County...Sorry, can't have the car too far away and unable to discuss / review / call the shots if any further away....
If anybody knows anybody.....
I've already got a shop in mind, looking at all options...
MUST be able to show me what you can do, i.e. not "learn" on my car..
Thanks, Erik

Most of us are too far away. One thought is Bob Ellis. He works at part place in Auburn Hills, MI. He was involved in doing the Max cars for VW's commercials.

Another thought. Talk to the guys at Karman in Plymouth. They had that convertible restoration side business going. (not sure if it still is or not.) They might know of someone to finish the car.
Then, maybe talk to some of the people in the MVVC. They are over there closer to you. They might have an idea.

The trans has now been torn down. Found the usual wear and tear. All new FTC big tooth gears specific for the Turbo, new super diff, mainshaft, etc.. and specific parts sent out for Cryogenic hardening.

Looking at the possibilitiy of having most or all of the final assembly of my project completed by somebody other than myself Car is freaking amazing. Thanks for sharing this build with us. Regarding final assembly: have you checked this guy? John Bickel at State of Mind Customs? He's in your area. He built the Max beetle used in the VW ad's that ran last year. www.stateofmindcustoms.com/I just stumbled on his site yesterday.
