I was just wondering if anybody had a special auto insurance on their ride. Just a conversation that came up today. If so what would you put on it?

I had haggerty on my beige '67. Stated value, unlimited mileage, only restriction was could not use it to commute to work. Blue '67 I wanted to drive as a daily so I put it on regular insurance with my other cars. In winter I change it to storage to help cut costs. On my sand rail I had a hard time finding someone to cover it. My regular insurer would not cover it. State Farm did. Again, storage in winter.

I use Haggerty on the Puma with a stated value policy. Theoretically there is no mileage limit, but for the first time, they asked about it.
I was told that there had been some abuse by folks in the past, and that they now really want only about 2500 miles or so per year. Mine is 5000 miles because of distance to some Puma GTGs, but I don't think that it is a hard and fast rule.
I do know that they are being much more careful about "kits". Unless something has changed they will no longer insure any kit with a V8, and no longer insure GT40, Cobra, Ferrari, Lambo and Austin Healey kits by name alone. Apparently the losses are just too high.
Also, there have been issues if a kit is titled as "1952 MG", "1960 Porsche 356", "Bugatti" etc. Some states actually titled cars this way, and not as an assembled vehicle. California will no longer accept titles like that, and I saw that a couple of "Porsches" were denied here in Michigan. "Broadway" titles and Alabama vintage titles are now an automatic red flag in a lot of states as well because of the high number (about 100 percent) of fakes or improperly titled cars.
A buddy uses State Farm and loves it. His rate is even better than mine, but limited mileage. Mine runs about $340 per year with a stated value of $8000 and I try to keep it under 5000 miles.

HAHAHa PLPD with AAA If I wreck it ,,,, and I survive! Ill just strip it and find another shell. Its not something Id repair if it was badly damaged. Plus if its not my fault I can sue the bonehead that damaged it. Gotta love michigan and their insurance laws that basically is all set up to support our lawers. Only car that has full insurance is my wifes new beetle (thank god!!) she seems to be the only one that uses it anyway Dan

Don't think the tow mileage would count with your carrier - or just disconnect the speedo til you get there. Check with your carrier to see if you can then claim less mileage. Art
