My dad has owned VWs since 1964. He's the original owner of a '69. I came home from the hospital in it. Took 8 hr trips to grandma's in it. Learned to drive in it. Did crazy things with it. Here I am in 1973 "helping" Dad wash the '69. I was not quite 2 years old. Do you have a story and/or photos?

I don't have a cool story like yours. My father was a Chevy guy until he purchased a early Dodge Omni with a VW engine when I was a young teen. He later traded the Omni for a Chevy truck. I learned to drive in a Chevy Astro Van but but but. My first car was a 1978 VW Rabbit Diesel 45 mpg. Ha car companies say they don't have the technology to reach 45 mpg, but that's another story. Here is a picture of my 78 Rabbit its the white one in the back ground of my fleet. I will scan more pictures in soon

I dont have any pics. But my mom had a white 69 bug. I loved it. But mom did not. She has sold it. When i was 16 I got a 68 bug. Worked on it, A guy had gave me twice what I had payed for it. So I sold it. Could have kicked myself for doing that. Few years went by I got my hands on a 71 bug. Redid that one. Sold that one to a friend. He still has it. Now many year later I have two 73 bugs. Stick and autostick. I am looking for another wouldnt mind just one more project to work on.

My story starts with this picture My parents rented that movie for me when I was really young. From then on I was hooked. My Dad also had a couple VW's before I was born. a 1967 Beetle and a 1968 Bus both of which are long gone but are replaced by a 1969 Beetle and a 1969 Baja
