70 grab handle

I need to put a grab handle in my dash to cover up two more holes. See pic below.
I got a pm from a guy on thesamba about how to modify a 70 handle to fit on a non-padded dash. Hopefully someone can help me with this in the spring or whenever. Does anyone know if an earlier handle (from dashes that came from the factory without padding) would fit with NO modification?

"It's a '69. The handle is from a padded dash. The ends that are threaded and bolt behing the dash have roll pins holding it to the spring steel that is the handle. I cut off about 2", I think, drilled another hole for the pin and knocked it in. the plastic 'covers', I drilled out with a 3/8 drill and installed them upside down. Nothing to it."
