What could we do to encourage people to not leave before the show car awards are given out?

I suggest a "group photo", they always look cool in the magazines. Maybe we line up behind the staging lanes at a given time, and our photog can get a shot from the back side of the tower.

I personally could not hear a thing the announcer was saying,
the only remedy I can see for this is moving the car show to "quieter" area.

I suggest a different location for the "Pre Bug Run Potluck", I love racing as much as the next guy, but, it made it VERY hard to do the very thing this event was created for, talking to and meeting new people.

I don't know why poeple feel the need to park their VW's in the parking lot rather than show. We need to make it known that the car show is free. Tell them at the gate, put up signs, etc.

Not sure how to keep people around until judging is done. I didn't mind though, it got me a trophy!

I like the idea of a group photo. Also quieter location for the pot luck is a MUST!

I'd like to see the car show segregated by model. I know AJ and Aki and others with Bus/Ghia or some other combination aren't going to like this, but it would make both viewing and judging a lot better if we could see all the busses lined up together, all the bugs, all the Ghias, etc.

I did like how the busses seemed to gravitate towards the front fence. Might've helped block at least a little bit of the noise.

Along the same lines, maybe a plaque (or two) for each class: Best Beetle, Best Ghia, Best Transporter, Best Westy, Best Pickup, Best Type III, Best Baja, Best Rail, Best Custom, Best Thing. etc.

Let 'em go home early Patrick. I was right behind you in the trophy line....

About the night before potluck; where do you think we should move it to? Different location at the track or somewhere offsite? Suggestions?

Out in the middle of that parking field to the west would be less noisy. I really don't like the idea of another venue entirely for some reason, but am willing to listen to suggestions. Of course, if someone just wants to come to the pot-luck and not the Bug Run next day, they will be paying $12 just to get in - suppose that's an issue for anyone?

Is there a state or county park nearby we could use next year?

The whole idea of having it at the track is to get us ( the show / swap meeters ) together with the racers. Anyone who wants to step up to plan next years is fine with me ... i've planned it for two years now.

We are haveing a Meet and Greet, so an off track location isn't a good idea, maybe away from the noise. At the office parking lot or maintenance building? Second We need new blood it is the same people who volunteer year after year, time after time, event after event.
I think Art is cooking next year so I don't have to eat cold, picked over, left overs.
As far as VW's parking outside the show area a simple sign might help. Give an award for non club members that track the longest distance, or in process or heap of the event(in all fun of course). Shorten the car show time window say 1pm, we do have cars coming long distance. A return trip in the light maybe why some are leaving early.

I like the idea if its a VW it parks in the show lot. Its not like we dint have the room for more cars. Even if they don't want to show there cars they MUST park in the VW lot!

I also likes the spot for the cook out. It seemed to be a great location. Seating, bathrooms, shade and great food.

Besides, I think the guy who won the "VW" spatula (Steve, from Dorr, "teamafx"?) s/b made to do the cooking since everyone of us envied him for winning that thing.

I am still upset about the VW spatula deal! I wanted it! There was no number on it and that guy just grabbed it when his number was called!
