Hey everyone,
There is a 68 Westy for sale down the road from me. They are asking $3500 for it...... Problem is it's about $3000 too high(in my opinion).
Realistically it might(big might) be worth $1000 if it runs, They have a NADA sheet on it so that is where they are basing the price I believe.
Didn't know whether or not to call them about it or leave it alone..........Shoot you know what I'm leaving it alone,so if anyone is interested in it I can get the number for you. It is located on Kraft 1/4 mile north of Caledonia high school.

Dave, I say tell them you believe they MIGHT be a tad on the overpriced(way over) side. The worst that can happen is you pi$$ them off, the best part maybe someone can score on a 68' parts bus/ ratty rod for a reasonable amount. Just my opinion by the way. I've been known to pi$$ someone off, a time or two(maybe more). Kenn

Dave:
My advice would be to leave it alone. If you want to get involved, drop a card by and offer to post it for them in "Classified" on the forum. When no one calls or emails, then you might offer a few suggestions, such as the fact that it's priced too high.
If you just go in and tell them that it might be a bit overpriced, they will most certainly be unhappy with you.
This way you are trying to help. You look good, the GoodVolks look good, and maybe someone buys it. This is a little different situation than the '57 Oval I looked at in Okemos for the club...the one Dustin eventually purchased. Several people had looked at it, and one person told her it was unrestorable, and worth only a little as a parts card. I told her that it was far to good to part out, and whoever had told her that was just trying to get it for nothing. Her original price was fair, and Dustin bought it. After all, how many '57 Oval ragtops are out there for under $1000?
Nothing is more infuriating than having someone stop by and tell you that what you are trying to sell is worth 25 percent of what you are asking. Even if it's truly worth only $1000, it's better to let them come to that realization on their own.
Who knows, maybe the club will get a new member?

Thanks for the advice guys, I am going to drop off a card and say hi,let them know about the club and go from there. I have no interest in it myself, It's just one of my quirks to try to save a VW( It looks sad ). Come on Kenn,I didn't think you ever pi$$ed anyone off ;D

Some people just hope to make a buck off unknowledgeable folks who might make an emotional purchase. They may very well know its junk.
On the other hand, an awful lot of people think that junked out VW in their back field is worth alot because it's old.
Time will teach them the error of their ways.
Leave it alone and just smile sadly at it when you drive by.
