I don't know much about his car. I will find out though ASAP. Hudsonville schools were closed today, I hope to get out there on Friday. Next week at the latest. This has the potential to be really COOL

I should have some solid details within the next few weeks at the latest. I made a contact w/ ppl @ his school who will work with his wife on the sly. I know for sure that it can't happen 4/29-5/7 as I will be on a missionary trip back to Haiti where I grew up. Anyone want to go?

whoa, grew up in Haiti...hope all your family and friends are allright. Prayers go out to the people of Haiti. I'm ready to overhaul a VW. Just my thoughts but we would need the following -
1) obvious participation from family to allow us to acquire car 2) will car needs plates, insurance, and waivers of liability for those involved in project ? 3) pre-inspection of car much ahead of anticipated delivery date to inspect and make sure we can get the car road worthy w/o major overahul, structural repairs, etc. 4) a good place to work on car with room for multiple people to work on car and not all cram in a 1 car garage.
just thinking out loud here.....

I happened to talk to the guy today about getting my VW out and he said he wants to get his out and on the road for his wife to drive occassionally. He said he had the transaxle redone before he couldn't drive it any more and some other work done and he was confident it wouldn't take much to get it roadworthy. One of the secretaries is going to talk to his wife on the QT next week and then I'll (hopefully) have better info so we can plan something. Maybe it'll be easier than I expected to help him out. But I won't count on it ;-)

Al, Just let us know what you come up with, you may want to check the events calendar to make sure it doesn't conflict with anything already set in stone.

OK, I just got this from the administrative assistant @ the Freshman Campus. "Hi Al,
I finally have information from Brad's dad about his VW Bug. He said it just needs wires and fuses and cleaning--that type of thing. No actual body work or big mechanical stuff. I hope that helps!!" I also found out the guy lives in Zeeland, not in Hudsonville. What else do we need to know other than trying to nail down a date at some point? I am wondering if we can get a peek at it before the actual date to get an exact idea of what we could do. My Haiti trip is 4/29-5/7 otherwise I just have school and work as usual.

By wires do you mean plug wires or a wiring harness? I would assume plug wires but....
