I do not know if any one has thought of this, but my favorite times of the year are spring and fall. Well fall is upon us soon sorry summer is all most over.
Now comes the season of driving. What I was thinking about is a day trip. Fire up the VW's drive to a starting place, and go on a scenic drive through the Michigan country side. If we time it correctly this trip could be done during the changing of the leaves. To make this journey worthy we should pick some type of point of interest. Ether a cool diner, or some neat park, or land mark.
Now comes time for your suggestions, tell me what you think. I think it will be a blast but you may not.
I have ran the idea up the flag pole now lets see if any one will salute it.

AJ,
This sounds like a great idea, My parents mentioned the idea of a color tour so your on the right track you just beat me to it. I am down for sure and we can make this an annual thing that our club does.

I like the idea. mvwg.com did this last year. Here is a link to details about their trip last year. Maybe we could join them in 2008? The more the merrier I think. Check it out: www.mvwg.com/ColorTour.html

Hey ya all, A cruise tour of color sounds good to me. For the best color it would have to be mid to late Oct. Here is another twist a cruise and picinic. Lets talk about this later what do think. Kenn

Just finished my research on the MVWG color tour of last year they started at Portage IN near Gary IN. Its a 2 hour drive from Kalamazoo MI to Portage IN. There was no posting for this years Color Tour cruise Someone should get a hold of the MVWG club so we can meet some where halfway

Ron wrote back. Here is what he had to say:
Hey Bren, We had a great time at the Gilmore and we are looking foreword to Fort Wayne.
I read the thread on doing a color tour. The one post stated we started on Portage IN which is incorrect. Portage Indiana is an hour west of us. We started out at Meijers on "Portage Rd" :-))))
Our group is based out of Niles,MI / South Bend, IN (Michiana)
I can see our groups doing a cruise and a picnic on a Saturday or Sunday in October either the 18/19 or 25/26 (will depend on my work schedule, I'll know more about my schedule in the next week or so). We could meet somewhere in between like around Decatur. We would have to put together a two to three hour drive through the backroads (no dirt roads) and find a place either to eat or have a picnic.
This sounds like fun !...

Ron.
What do you all think? Want to work on putting this together?

Sorry for the little mix up Niles, MI / South Bend, IN is a lot closer. We should all cruise down to Decatur together for a little warm up before the main event. I think this is going to be amazing to see so many Volkswagens in a line driving around. Just imagine the look on everyone face as we drive by. Bring your cameras good photo shoot.

One quick issue how cold does it get in October I can't remember. I do not have heat in the Ghia I am running J-Tubes My heater channels are not the greatest and the J-tubes were cheaper. Oh-well I guess I need to dress warm.

AJ. Ruffuss has no heat exchange tubes, heat channels, but does have a gas heater that sits on top the gas tank(always scared me, inter combustion sit on a time bomb) no thanks I just dress for the temp(thats why they invented Gor-tex)

We met with Ron Wenger yesterday at the Fort Wayne show. Kenn, AJ and I talked to him about this cruise. He is going to come up with a route and let us know details. This will be great fun. Great opportunity to get to know some other VW friends.
