Thanks dubfreak1
On Friday I took a half of a day at work and I got to work on my oil cooler seals. I also installed everything else ready to install the engine.
On Saturday I installed the engine and carefully adjusted everything.
Dwell at 48 degrees Timing at "0" RPM at 800
Everything is running very smoothly and the engine idles so nice at 800 rpm.
I can also report NO OIL LEAKS ...... Finally
I finally finished at 6:30 pm and went on a quick drive after.
Tomorrow I am thinking of driving the Bus to work ... I can't wait

Thanks
I am happy to report that the Bus ran fine on the way to work this morning.
I did have one slight issue when braking for a stop light the engine idle slowed way down until the engine died. Just a quick bump of the stater and the bus comes back to life. I did find out that if I quickly rev up the engine when braking it will not die.
When I had the same problem in the Ghia it turned out to be a bad solenoid on my idle cut off solenoid. So I replaced it with a Pilot Jet and that solved my problem.
Now the bus is doing the same thing but I am running a Pilot Jet and no solenoid.
I am guessing its a carb issue. I did nothing to the carb since it was running fine last year. Just removed it and let it sit attached to the intake manifold in a corner of the garage until I bolted it on last month. I am guessing its dirty from sitting.
I am hoping just opening the carb up and cleaning all the passage ways solves my problem. I am also debating on just bolting on my rebuilt spare carb and see if that solves my problem too.

AJ:
Seafoam, Seafoam, Seafoam. It will cure what ails the carb, and the best way to use it is to put in with about 10 gallons of gas, and take Wifey to a nice dinner about 40 miles away. The drive there and back along with sitting about an hour does wonders.

Dave, I agree; Seafoam is what I've used for years... good stuff!

Thanks I did have one slight issue when braking for a stop light the engine idle slowed way down until the engine died. AJ - could a carb float adjustment be the problem?

AJ, if there was a perseverance award; you would have won it. Great job in finding and fixing the problems.
Brian - I use to use Stabil, but have had better luck with Seafoam. Here's the description off the container... - "Cleans Injectors, Cleans Carb Jets, Fule Stabilizer, Removers moisture from fuel & oil, Adds Lubricity, Frees lifters- rings, Carbon Cleaner, Upper Cylinder Lube, De-Icer Anit-gel. Use in Gas, Ethanol, Diesel or Boidiesel. Use in Oil, Use in Injector & Carbon Cleaning Machines. Internal Engine Use Only, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, diesels"
When added to gas - one pint treats 8-25 gallons
I believe WalMart sells it, but not 100% sure.

I found the issue it was a loose and clogged Pilot Jet. Easy fix I drove the bus around for 45 minutes and no problems Its funny how I have been typing about the solenoid and it turns out to be the Jet.
For now it seams that all of my issues are fixed. Now I can work on more interior and exterior goodies.

Thanks for all your kind words
I am happy to report that the bus is still running smooth and without any problems. I have logged about 900 miles since the engine install. Almost time for my 1000 mile check up.
In the mean time I have still been working on Bus stuff. Trying to still play catchup from being a month behind due to other stuff.
So far to get everyone up to date from my last posting I have....
Finally installed all 4 of my VDO gauges purchase at Buggy Builders
Ran new wire front to back for the gauges (4 wire flat trailer wire) makes for a clean looking install.
Also at the same time I have rewired my dashboard and cleaned thing up. Went to a more stock look from before.
I have installed a very nice crystal clear stereo system in the bus. Now if I can only reduce road noise it would be even better.
I have finally finished and installed my super cool side ladder.
I have added 1 more cool LED camping light for a total of 3 now.
I have installed a cool VDO Clock in the back to match my Volt gauge for my camping battery.
I have made and installed all new very custom door panels with cool door pockets in the rear and arm rests for the front.
I have installed a new to me cardboard glove box that is in much better condition than my old one.
Wifey and I have installed more cool window stickers. That reflect my weirdness.
Oh yea I installed the mirror behind the closet door that I was missing.
I have been very busy and I am sorry I don't have any pictures (Wifey has the camera). So you are just going to have to stop by and see it for yourself at the BugRun this weekend.

A few days ago I drove to Ray's (67type1) shop. To give the bus a once over on the lift and rotate the tires. Seeing the bus on the lift gave me a whole different perspective underneath of the bus. Yea its oily under there. I am leaking from my 6 nuts around the sump plate and the output shafts from the transmission. Here is a good shot of the heater tube that Steven and I hurriedly installed last year. I still need to clean up the welds, add some paint and maybe some insulation. Definitely an whole new perspective A nice engine picture Here is my cool ladder Ray pointed out that some of my new wiring needs to be sealed better than it is now. Ray also fixed a trouble area that had exposed wires running through a factory hold down. We did find that my Right Rear Wheel Bearing is not the greatest. It will get fixed soon.

The underside doesn't look that bad for a MI bus. Those master cylinder boots look just like mine after 4 decades lol , replacing them is on my to do list as well. Was it a major headache to replace the heater tube when you guys did it? Seeing yours on the lift reminds me that I need to grease the beam on mine when it stops raining.
