Found a show from the UK on Direct Tv called Beetle Crisis. They take a Vw bug in bad condition and bring it to car show condition. They just started the show. One guy owns a VW Bus and the other has 3 bugs and a house full of parts. If you do a search on your cable provider I am sure you would find it if your interested.

Watched start to finish. Very interesting. I think they were a bit nuts to attempt what they did with that piece o' beep. Turned out nice though. Amazing what you can do with a welder, grinder and basic metal skills. Wish I had that.
Goes to show how important it is to have a good idea of what you're buying to start with.
