Cruise the Gut, Battle Creek

Next Saturday. Aug. 9th.
One of my favorite events. If you have never been you need to check it out. They close off downtown Battle Creek streets and parking for this. Cars park and cruise all night. It is busy and sometimes hard to find parking but that all adds to it in my opinion.

Sounds like a total blast. In 2002 I did some cruising at Mishawaka Indiana unfortunately for the locals the main road was still
open. It took about 15 minutes to drive the 1/2 mile strip.

I will have to skip this one my wife has kicked me out to the garage for the next few weeks. She said that I need to stop wishing I had the Ghia done and do something about it. Plus with out my Ghia it would not be very fun to cruise in my Chevy Truck. So maybe next year. Now I am still hoping to go to August GTG with the Ghia just a few more details to work out.

What time is everyone gonna show up? I think my wife and I going to try to make it.

I can't seem to find anything posted about the times. Seems like it starts up around 6pm. Some get there very early to get a parking spot. Last year the Cereal City Tub Club just parked at a bank nearby, that worked well. If you want we could all meet somewhere then drive in together. Should we just set a time and place for that?

That works for me. I'm not very familier with battle creek so if we could come up with a place that would be nice, that way I could mapquest it.

I just found online that the hours are 5-10pm. So, how about we meet at 5pm?

I contacted Burnham Brook and they said it is OK to meet in their parking lot. They would prefer we meet at the east end of the lot, closest to downtown. The address is: 200 W. Michigan Avenue · Battle Creek, MI 49017
Their parking lot is just outside the cruise area. Once we get there we can move if we want. Last year the tub club hung out at a bank that is 'inside' the cruise area.

Is anyone riding solo and need someone to hang with. Man I really wish my Ghia was done. I could cruise in the unfinished car what do you think?

Come on out. Meet us at Burnham Brook. I'm sure you can find a spot in someone's car. While at the cruise we don't drive all the time anyways.
Alternatively:
Your car does not have to be finished and perfect to take it there. If it is street legal bring it out. The police run this event so they are usually very present. Know what I mean?

I'll be getting back from a 12 hour drive to look at a '56 Beetle around 7 pm on saturday. if i don't buy it, i'll head to the show. If I do buy it, i'll probably stay home and check out the new ride. (its advertised on thesamba as '1956 need to sell!!').
