I was wondering if anyone was planning on making the trip to the east side for Woodward this year? I have yet to make it to one of the GTG's, so it would be cool to meet some of you guys. The Kirby's Coney Island at Woodward and Square lake road has always been the VW hangout. I have not heard but I assume it will be again.

I'd really like to go but I am not sure if I'll be able to.

For anyone who hasn't ever been to one, go if you can. It's an absolute blast.
I've been in it a couple of times, and if you are running a water-cooled car, make certain it cools really well. My Mustang SVO was not very happy driving two miles an hour.
Some of the coolest cars I have ever seen, and everyone has a great time.

I received this email, It could be a ton of fun!
The Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Club will be gathering at the Kerby's Coney Island Restaurant on Woodward Ave. and Square Lake Road, Saturday, August 15, for the Woodward Dream Cruise. Members of your club and not-a-club are welcome to join us. Here's the scoop:
ANNOUNCING: AUGUST MVVC EVENT !
MVVC at the WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE
Kerby's Coney Island Restaurant
Kingswood Plaza Shopping Center
NW Corner of Woodward Ave. & Square Lake Rd.
August is Woodward Dream Cruise month and what better event for the MVVC to both show off our VWs and enjoy the coolest cars in the region than to gather for one of the biggest automotive events anywhere? This year, as in several years past, MVVC members are invited to bring out their VWs and hang out with fellow club members and other auto enthusiasts at the Kerby's Coney Island restaurant near the northwest corner of Woodward and Square Lake Road.
The location affords members of our and other car clubs great viewing of the cruise from an elevated level as well as the convenience of a nice, casual low-cost restaurant to escape into throughout the day for a meal or beverage.
Typically, other clubs for German cars gather here to take in the Cruise and socialize, so there's a good chance that other fabulous cars will not only be seen making their way up and down Woodward, but be right there in our midst among our VWs!
While the parking lot is fairly large, getting the best spots along Woodward means the early VW gets that spot, so plan on coming early in the morning. There's a grassy area between the parking lot and Woodward, ideal for spreading a blanket or situating folding chairs. Also, as a reciprocal courtesy to the restaurant, it would be very much appreciated (and appropriate) to patronize Kerby's during the course of the day for your food and drink, a way of saying thanks for their hospitality.
This will be a non-structured event, so no RSVP is required. Just fire up your VW and show up Saturday morning, August 15, for a day of great cars and great socializing. Kerby's Coney Island restaurant is located on the west side of Woodward (southbound) in the Kingswood Plaza Shopping Center, just north of the corner of Woodward and Square Lake Road. It is next door, to the north, of a gas station on the corner. Enter the lot either off of southbound Woodward (direct to the restaurant) or off of westbound Square Lake (indirectly to Kerby's via the south side of the Kingswood Plaza).
