I was talking to Dustin about the club getting into the parade this summer. There is a mustang club and another club of old cars but no bugs! I was wondering if and how many would be interested in this. I think it would be cool to represent. You can make a day of it. After the parade the rides are all open and the whole town is full of things to do. Later that night we have fireworks that will blow your hair back (if you have hair). Please let me know if this is something we need to make happen because I will need to register soon. Thanks

www.coastguardfest.org/Documents/2009GeneralGrandParadeApp.pdfThis is the link for the parade rules and application. I talked to the lady in the office today and she said the they will put us in 2x2 groups (2 cars in front and the 2 cars behind and so on) but the first 2 have to have some kind of magnet on the car that pay tribute to the coast guard. The dead line is also in the link. I do not know how much it would cost to have door magnets made but we do not have to pay the $100 fee for the parade. Look this over and let me know how many are interested and who might know somebody who can make the magnets. If this is something we want to do.

Wow, would have been kinda cool to drive in that, but unfortunately that is the day we return from a vacation. I don't realistically think I'l be able to attend.

Do they really have to be magnets or can we make something to tape onto the door?

The lady said they need to be professionally done. They make a big deal about this especially this year because it will be on tv. Channel 13 and 4.

Well I guess it all depends on how much the magnets cost.

That is what I was thinking as well. I am going to look into some connections I have to see if I can pull a favor. It would be cool to get the club on tv during the parade. We will only need 4 magnets because they only need to be on the 2 lead cars. I will get back to you tomorrow on the magnets.

Talk to the guys here: www.verduins.com/They've been very good for me in the past. They do all the magnetics, vinyl, etc.

Does the magnets have to be on both sides of the cars? Or can we get away with just buying 2 magnets, one for each side of the parade?

Guys-
My buddy sells this sort of thing. How many would we need? I'll get a price. Won't work for the Puma, however. Not enough metal in the poor thing for any self-respecting magnet to get ahold of.
