During my different yearly fazes of my Bus I someday plan on doing this to my current Bus. Unless I sell it. I do think it would be very fun.
My different fazes
1. Get the Bus road ready and drive it with a for sale sign in the window.
2. Remove all the exterior paint, rust treat it, than spray bomb. Still with For Sale sign in window.
3. Just drive it as my parts hauler. Sill with For Sale sign
4. Baja Bus with many trips to Sliver Lake in my future. If it never sells.
The reason for selling my Bus is because currently Wifey will not let me have any more VW's until I get rid of something.

Those are pretty slick, but I still like the baja ghias more. A big bus can't be too great off road.

I always thought a squareback would make a good baja car.

Why destroy a Ghia? But I did read the back ground on the Ghia. It was rear-ended and now its back to have fun. So I guess its not all bad. Here is a Bus Baja for sale its in Cali. The only thing I would do would be to add on more vertical tubing to support in-case of a roll over. www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=783731

I think the bus would look super cool all lifted Its slow and cant handle anyeway, why not add some off roadablilty. Mind you itd be a bear to get in and out of it. Cant help the power situation Gas mileage would rival my f150 Ya know my 71 bus was great off road stock. Maybe just put some 31x10.50 r 15 bfr ta's and call it good.

Check out the underside. He has reduction boxes on an IRS suspension and the transaxle is upside down. I guess you can do that when you live in an upside down country.

One that a tree fell on would be a better candidate. It would be cheaper, and would already have the roof half off.
