Hmmm, Lowering and Baja don't really go together. Sorta like a street manx.

Kind of fell behind on updates. Here are a few: Stereo is in wired and working. Sounds pretty good. Cheap Panasonic cd headunit with no frills, Blaupunkt 6x9's in the rear and 6.5's in the front. Struggled to come up with a way to mount the head unit. This is what I came up with after brainstorming with some of you.... And I made a rear shelf for the 6x9's. Kept is squared off so I could access the strap to hold the seat back in position. More recently I brushed on the balance of my sound dampner in the doors: One evening last week I put the sound dampner/carpet padding on the floors, front firewall, and on the speaker kick panels. Speaker kick panels were just some 1/4" thick board I had. Cut it to fit and the speakers don't bottom out on the car body. The padding I used is the stuff AJ recommended. It is from Menards. Very nice to work with. I put it in place with spray adhesive. Next comes the carpeting....

Carpet is in. ;D Was not too bad of a project. Again following AJ's recommendation I used the auto carpet sold at Mendards. Cheaper than a cheap carpet kit. Probably more work though.

So are the edges of the carpet just not finished? Are you worried about it fraying at all?

I did the rear of my GTI with this stuff and I abused the carpet by spilling stuff and using it to haul car parts. It never frayed just sometimes the spray glue would come undone. Just a quick shot of glue here and there solved that problem. I also have it installed in the Ghia and I love it. If a piece of carpet does wear out just replace it at 0.50 cents a square foot.
