Hi guys... I need a tire dealer that carries the narrow whitewalls for my 1965 beetle. I think the redial size is 165R15. Belle Tire has 165x80R15, but I think that's too wide. Any suggestions as to where to find tires fairly close to the Grand Rapids/KalamazooBattle Creek area? Thanks. Sue

Try Boven's Tires between Paw Paw and Mattawan on Red Arrow.

The Tirerack has BFG Radial T/A's in a 155/80-15, which is like the 5.60-15's that would have come on a '65, but they are raised white letter.......not very vintage looking. According to their specs these are 24.7 inches tall Vs. the Kuhmo 165/80-15 at 25.4 inches tall.
I'm excited to hear about the Continentals being available in Marne! Might have to get a set of those.

165 80R15 is very close to 165R15. 165 is the tread width in millimeters 80 is 80% of the tread width which is side wall height 15 is rim diameter in inches 165R15 is around 83% or 85% of tread width

Bought mine at belle tire,I didn't get whitewalls because I was more concerned about price( bought 10 of them).
The ride and handling seems okay, never had an issue other than the tires will rub just a bit if you crank the wheels all the way,and I mean jammed all the way,but only on one of the bugs(the 77)
