Friday I am to buy a 1974 Orange Bug . Dustin has seen this one last fall in South Haven . I will be needing Running Boards and All outside Chrome and maybe exhaust . Rebuild carb & fuel pump , full tune up and oil change . Paint job , Speedo says 30,000 + I don't know yet if there is a 1 in front .

Most likely there is a 1 in front. Call George for those parts I am sure he has them or can get them easy enough.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I have trouble squeezing into a beetle because of my height. You are a bit shorter than me, just see how you fit before laying down the coin.

So I'm working on this 69 Bug and there is all kinds of room with the seat back and a light tilt I have about 4-5 in. head room . Only tight area is my leg between shifter and steering wheel . So a 69 and a 74 are the same size right ?

Might have to get rid of the stock steering wheel and go with a smaller one with less dish to it. Made a big difference in the '73 that I had.

Im 6ft and with my 74 I have just enough room. Even with the racing steering wheel. I probably have 4 inches head room tops, and my knees like to hit the toggle switches on my dash.

Looks like fun....plus, I like the ORANGE color!
AJ and I chatted about our height challenges and Beetles at the show last weekend. The PO of my car installed seats from a Pontiac Sunfire using the original Beetle tracks. They way he fabricated the mount, it provides an additional 2" of leg room. Perfect for me.

I don't know why you guys are having such a problem fitting into beetles, I'm every bit of 5'7" and I fit with room to spare. ;D

Looks like the guy knows a classic when he sees it. Nice fleet in that garage.
