Hey Mike, how far is it for you to Stanton? I've been thinking that since US131 doesn't run every Wednesday, maybe we should do a little traveling to drum up interest on some days that US131 isn't running. If we just stay in our own backyard, we miss the opportunity to expose others. The idea would be that they will hopefully come to Martin, then. I was thinking maybe Stanton, Onondaga, and perhaps others that are within a reasonable range of Martin. What to the rest of you think? The simpler we keep the rules the easier and cheaper it is for people to get involved Exactly! 1600cc and smaller and make it a bracket class!

I have the slowest recorded time there...of course I was on my Klein mountain bike!
I was riding the bike trail that goes past the end of the track, so I wandered in. There was a guy doing work and I asked him if he would run the tree for me. He laughed and said "sure."
I lined the bike up, and off I went. He laughed a long time...
I have photos too.

I agree with widefive, Make it a bracket race with an engine size in the 1600cc range and smaller. The idea is to get more people out on the track so why limit it?

The performance is what needs to be similar, not the specs. If somebody wants to run a Type II with a 2 liter that runs 16.40's why would we want to say NO? My light weight Bug with a 34 PICT-3 might approach that time. We'd have a blast going down the strip side by side. Using the bracket racing format as an equalizer will add to the fun.
I agree that down the road it would be great to have a whole bunch of people running 1584cc air cooled VW's, maybe even head's up. However, to get the ball rolling we should be careful not to limit our scope and go for similar performance numbers that can be obtained and still be financially attractive.
The original question was is 16 sec too fast. From the sounds of the posts, probably not.

So, I have been wondering who is planning to join us this year? Can we get enough interest and participation to maybe even create a new racing class at the bug run? Myself, I want to participate. I may not have my '64 ready but I am seriously thinking of racing the '67 for now until I can get to the '64. (I still plan to run my sand rail also.)
Anyone else in?

I'm in for sure. Ran 7 events last year and I still can't call myself consistant. I really like the challange of trying to improve.
Bren, what are your thoughts on going to other tracks also?

I like the idea. My loyalty is with 131 though. My goal would be to find more VW racers and bring them to our home at US131. Experiencing other tracks sounds good to me!

If we go to 131 on all of the days we usually do and hit 1 or 2 other tracks on off weeks it could work out in our favor. Maybe we could bring them back to 131 on there off weeks.
