On a lighter note, my bug RUNS!!!! Do indeed need a fuel pump (spits fuel from around the "seam" area) and some bushings for the carb, but once we found that I had the fuel lines on the pump backwards she fired RIGHT up and ran soooooo smooth All grins over here.....ALL grins

Thanks!! All the thanks goes to members of this forum though, especially Patrick for the engine work. Feels darn good though to hear it run, especially as smooth as it does. Fuel leak or not, i am one happy camper

Pulled the steering column apart to check the bearing....low & behold, the little plastic "sleeve" that goes between the bearing and steering shaft was in a zillion pieces No having a replacement on hand, I thought hmmmmm.....grabbed a ziplock food container, sliced it up, cut a strip and slid it in there. DON'T TELL THE WIFE ANYWHOS, all the play is now gone, but the bearing still growls something fierce....time for a bearing.....
